Bandits Abduct Kebbi Deputy Speaker After Friday Prayers

Gunmen suspected to be bandits have abducted the Deputy Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Muhammed Samaila Bagudo.

The incident occurred on Friday night shortly after the lawmaker observed prayers at a mosque in Bagudo town.

Confirming the abduction, the state Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, said the attackers, armed with sophisticated weapons, stormed the area and whisked the Deputy Speaker away to an unknown destination.

According to Abubakar, the Commissioner of Police, Bello Sani, has mobilized a joint search-and-rescue operation involving the Police, Army, and local vigilantes to secure the lawmaker’s release.

“In view of the unfortunate incident, we have formed a strong rescue team, and they are already combing bushes and forests to rescue him unhurt,” the statement read.

The Police urged residents to remain calm and law-abiding, assuring that security agencies were on top of the situation and committed to protecting lives and property across the state.
